Press Release: Florida Highway Patrol
On March 21, 2013, at approximately 11:10pm, the Florida Highway Patrol was involved in a pursuit of suspected armed robbers in Jefferson County, Florida.
Trooper Michael Fillyaw was flagged down regarding an armed robbery in progress at the McDonald's located off Exit 225 of Interstate 10 in Jefferson County, Florida. Trooper Fillyaw was in the area and observed the McDonald's being robbed by two armed suspects wearing masks.
The suspects fled the scene and entered a waiting vehicle nearby.
The vehicle fled the scene and Trooper Fillyaw initiated a pursuit of the vehicle. The vehicle pursuit continued until an unmarked Jefferson County Sheriff's Office vehicle attempted to block the suspects on M.L. King Jr. Ave, just south of U.S. Highway 90 in Monticello.
The pursuit ended when the suspect vehicle collided head-on with the unmarked patrol vehicle. Three of the four suspects in the vehicle fled the scene on foot and were immediately apprehended.
The remaining suspect was later apprehended after being tracked with the assistance of the Leon County Sheriff’s Office K-9. All suspects are in custody at the Jefferson County Jail. No injuries occurred as a result of the pursuit or the traffic crash.
The suspect vehicle was later reported stolen out of Leon County, Florida. Three of the suspects were minors and their identity is being withheld. One of the passengers in the vehicle was twenty-five year old Freddie Bagley, Jr. of Tallahassee.
The identities of the armed robbery suspects are still under investigation by the Jefferson County Sheriff’s Office.
Charges are pending for the involved suspects.
