Tallahassee, FL - On September 14th, 1984, the Rickards High School Football team beat Leon High for the first time.
As the school prepares to battle the Lions tonight (9/4), members of that '84 team and coaches are planning to celebrate the 30th anniversary of that historic night.
They were recognized during a pep rally at Rickards Thursday afternoon.
The final score 30 years ago was 23 to 22. Players say they remember that game like it was yesterday.
Lawrence Revell says, "I ran over to the side, through my helmet off. I actually dropped down to my knees and threw my arms up in the air and screamed. It was all about the team and what we meant to each other and what the school meant to us. That night was just a culmination of that."
The 1984 team will be recognized after the first quarter of tonight's big game against Leon.
