Despite the rough economy, the local shops in our area are hanging in there.

"We kind of have a delayed holiday season here, but of course-- it was really good over the holidays as usual," said Kathryn Bradley-Wilson Owner of Grey Fox.

According to the Greater Tallahassee Chamber of Commerce, local establishments saw a 20 percent boost in sales than last holiday season.

"It was incredible there was such an emphasis on shopping local this year." Said Whitney Anders Owner Way Out West, "People are coming as far as Panama City, Valdosta, and Thomasvile to Tallahassee to shop."

Many local shops saw booming business and the customers agree.

"Maybe spent a little more this year we were buying bigger gifts," Said Candie Fuller, Customer at Grey Fox.

According to Bradley-Wilson, residents in Tallahassee should continue to shop in town.

"I think people are finally getting the point that shopping local keeps the money here in our community," said Bradley-Wilson.
