Tallahassee, FL - A homeless man in Tallahassee is finding it very difficult to find housing.

It appears that every road he is taking, he's running into a dead end.

54-year-old Angelo Gaines, is just one of the many people who are living on the streets of Tallahassee.

Angelo has run into difficulty finding housing.

He's been told that because of his mental illness and a felony on his record he doesn't qualify for housing.

The problem is that his felony is from more than 20 years ago.

Angelo Gaines says: "I still believe that I am a human being, the last time I checked I thought I was, you know but i'm not being treated like a human being, i've been denied and talked to roughly."

There are many organizations out there helping people like Angelo, which means there is always hope, but there are also challenges.

Kim Ladner from ECHO says: "There is such a large percentage of people in the homeless population in the Leon County area who are facing the same exact thing as he is, so there's a pretty big backlog of people seeking housing"

Rick Adams says: "Just imagine night after night sleeping on a hard concrete slab like this, that's what Angelo does, and with the cold weather months ahead, it's going to get that much more difficult"

Angelo Gaines says: "You got to try to sleep with one eye open, you know most of the time you can't get a real good night sleep because it's cold and you're afraid that someone will come on out of the dark"

Each day Angelo says he doesn't know where his next meal is coming from.

Angelo is hopeful that someone seeing this story can help him out with his housing needs, whether it's low income housing or a subsidized apartment.
