Tallahassee, FL -Lobbyists and tourism groups from around the state celebrated 'Florida Tourism Day' in Tallahassee Wednesday.

The event brought in various tourism and hospitality leaders to Tallahassee to discuss the importance of the tourism industry on Florida's economy with lawmakers.

According to Visit Florida, in 2012, tourism brought in $71. 8 billion dollars in spending to the state.

"We're a huge industry and we are such a big and diverse state that it's really important that we all just team together to make sure the public and the country and the whole world knows that Florida appreciates all the tourist that come to our state," said Andrew Reiss, executive director of the Florid Restaurant and Lodging Association.

The day-long event concludes with a concert and bull-whipping demonstration Wednesday evening.
