Tallahassee, FL --June 2, 2012--

Hurricane season is here.

The Lowe's Home Improvement Store off Commonwealth Boulevard held its fourth annual Hurricane Workshop. Lowe's partnered up with about a dozen city and federal agencies as part of the workshop. It offered shoppers tips and supplies that they can use to keep them and their families safe.

"The idea here is to promote preparedness, show people generators, supplies, checklists and say what if? It's going to happen. It's not if it will happen but when," says Robby Powers , Emergency Management Coordinator.

More hurricanes hit Florida than any other state. During an average hurricane season, there are about 12 named storms, with 7 of those becoming hurricanes.
