5000 Pounds of Cantaloupe Spill on to I-10 [SLIDE SHOW]

Tallahassee, FL - 6:09 pm - Troopers say the driver of the pick-up truck said he pulled over on I-10 because he believed something was wrong with his vehicle. The man was still inside of the truck when the semi side-swiped it.

Trooper Juan Juarez says, "As he was unbuckling his seat belt and reaching for the door to open it is when he was actually side-swiped by the semi-truck. So, he was very close to being hit directly by the semi truck if he'd been a little bit faster getting out of his car."

No charges had been filed as of Thursday afternoon.

Tallahassee, FL - 11:28 am - Florida Highway Patrol troopers say a pickup truck was parked on the side of I-10 when a semi truck drove by, the semi driver lost control of and side swiped the truck. The cab of the semi crashed into the trees off the road and the trailer became unhitched. The trailer was also turned on its side.

About 5000 lbs of cantaloupe spilled out on to highway. The driver of the semi was taken to TMH with minor injuries. The driver of the pickup is ok.

TFD and EMS also assisted at the scene.

Authorities believe the accident should be cleared by Noon today.

Leon County, FL - 11:15 am - A tractor trailer is overturned and laying on its side. The cab of the truck is through the guard rail, and crashed into trees. The trailer is laying in the middle of highway. Boxes of cantaloupe are in the road.

Leon County, FL - 10:15 am - According to the FHP website, there is a vehicle crash in Leon County on I-10 westbound, near Mile Markers 203-205. FHP is reporting that westbound lanes are currently blocked and drivers should use caution in the area.
