Investigators Find More Than 1200 Marijuana Plants in Man's Backyard

Decatur County, GA- A man investigators say was caught in the act of tending to marijuana plants is now facing more charges.

48-year-old Phillip Byrd is charged with possession of marijuana with intent to distribute, manufacture of marijuana, and possession of a firearm by a convicted felon.

Investigator Redell Walton with the Decatur County Sheriff's Office said including seedlings, they were able to confiscate more than 1,200 marijuana plants.

Byrd remains behind bars at the Decatur County Jail.

Decatur County, GA- Investigators with the Decatur County Sheriff's Office arrested 48-year-old Phillip Byrd Friday afternoon.

Investigators say a tip from a caller led them to Byrd's house along Kemp Road.

That's where they found Byrd tending to more than one hundred marijuana seedlings and plants in a wooded area behind his house.

Byrd was charged with manufacturing marijuana, but officials say more charges are pending.
