With threats of Irene blowing through Florida and Georgia by Thursday, we wanted to remind you which items are needed during a hurricane.
WCTV visited a local hardware store to get a few tips about how to stay safe during a storm.
We all know the basic necessities like water and batteries, but Lowe's tell us you should have ropes, plywood, generators and chainsaws handy as well.
"We've had a lot of people coming in, especially with the approaching hurricane, we've had a lot of people come in looking at those items," says Lowe's Project Specialist Bill Ritter.
Ritter says it's important to have a hurricane kit on hand just in case one does come our way.
