The caller is pretending to be a grandchild of the victim and is stating he or she is in jail somewhere needing money.
The caller will say "this is your favorite child," but will not provide a name. The caller will continue to attempt to get the victim to call out a name and will even say they will put the lawyer on the phone to convince them.
