The caller is pretending to be a grandchild of the victim and is stating he or she is in jail somewhere needing money.
The caller will say "this is your favorite child," but will not provide a name. The caller will continue to attempt to get the victim to call out a name and will even say they will put the lawyer on the phone to convince them.
The Sheriff's Office advises people to send anyone any money in cases of this nature.
