News Release: Jackson County Sheriff's Office

On February 9, 2014 at approximately 6:20 pm, the Jackson County Sheriff’s Office received a 911 call regarding an armed domestic disturbance in progress on 4th Ave in Alford.

During the course of the investigation Deputies learned that 50-year-old Charles Wamer Jr. had become angry over his niece and her boyfriend smoking in the house.

As the argument escalated, Wamer reportedly pulled a pocket knife and threatened both subjects, stating that he would kill them. When the female victim advised that she was calling the Police, Wamer fled the scene. He was located a short time later and arrested. Wamer was lodged in the Jackson County Correctional Facility to await first appearance. He is being held for Aggravated Assault with a Deadly Weapon (Domestic).

The situation is classified as “domestic” based on Wamer and the female being related and living together in the same household as a family. No one was injured in the incident.
