Tallahassee, FL - If you weren't watching the kickoff of the FSU football season last night, you missed out! Red shirt freshman Quarterback Jameis Winston made his FSU debut and stunned the crowd.
FSU beat Pittsburgh 41 to 13 in their season opener, but just as soon as FSU's Offense took the field Jameis Winston began to light up the stage.
The 6'4, 227 pound player from Hueytown, Alabama was playing more like an experienced quarterback, and is already being compared to two former FSU sports stars, Charlie Ward and Deion Sanders.
Here's what students had to say about his performance:
FSU student, Sean Howes: "He stood his ground, kept his eyes down the field through everything even when he knew he was going to get hit . 25 for 27 for over 300 yards as a freshman quarterback-- that's ridiculous, and he ran with it himself! Like, who does that?"
FSU student, Tori Bedell: "It was amazing, it was almost like he he had been playing for longer here, because I know university is probably alot different from high school football, I didn't realize he was a freshman."
The overall attitude on campus was that folks are glad Jameis Winston had a great debut and are definitely excited for the 'Jaboo' era at Florida State.
The next FSU game pitches the Seminoles against Nevada, September 14th, 3:30 kickoff at Doak Campbell stadium in Tallahassee.
