Associated Press Release
TALLAHASSEE, Fla. (AP) -- Florida Gov. Rick Scott has asked the state university system chancellor to look into a classroom lesson at Florida Atlantic University in which students were told to stomp on sheets of paper with "Jesus" written on them.
Scott said Tuesday he was "deeply disappointed" by the incident in an intercultural communications class.
The Republican governor wrote state university system Chancellor Frank Brogan asking for a report on the incident. Scott also wants assurances such lessons won't occur again.
Scott cited news reports indicating students were instructed to write "Jesus" on a sheet of paper and to place the paper on the floor. The students were told to step on the paper and tell the class how they felt.
FAU officials did not immediately respond to phone calls and an email seeking comment.
