TALLAHASSEE, Fla. -- A late night fire ripped through a home in east Tallahassee.

The Tallahassee Fire Department responded to a house fire in the 2000 block of Windsor Oaks Ct. shortly after 1 this morning.

TFD officials say that the homeowner woke to smoke throughout the house and woke up his daughter before escaping the home. When firefighters arrived, the fire was through the roof the the single story home.

The firefighters battled the blaze for twenty minutes until the fire was out. Officials couldn't pinpoint the cause of the fire, but didn't rule out a lightning strike.
