Tallahassee, FL (AP) - A Florida lawmaker doesn't want to hear
"Season's Greetings" or "Happy Holidays" on Dec. 25 -- just
"Merry Christmas."

State Sen. Gary Siplin filed a resolution (SR 320) this week
that would recognize "Merry Christmas" as the state of Florida's
official greeting for Dec. 25.

In the resolution, the Orlando Democrat writes that Christmas is
a holiday of "great significance to most Americans" and that
"many Christians and non-Christians" recognize the holiday as a
time "to cherish and serve others."

It's not likely that a state employee would be punished for
giving an alternate greeting. A resolution is often ceremonial and
does not have the effect of law.

SO I SEE POLITICIANS,LIKE MICHAEL JACKSON SAID, "THEY DON'T REALLY CARE ABOUT US" INSTEAD OF WORRYING ABOUT A HOLIDAY THERE ARE PEOPLE OUT HERE WITH NO FOOD, NO SHELTER, NO HEALTH INSURANCE, CAN'T FIND A JOB NOT EVEN AT MCDONALD'S (because machines are taking over), PEOPLE ARE STRESSED AND LOST BECAUSE YOU LAWMAKERS AND POLITICIANS ALWAYS GIVE US NOTHING BUT BAD OPTIONS THAT LEAD TO NO SUCCESS WHILE YOU RICH PEOPLE HAVE FULLY COVERED HEALTH INSURANCE, A COUPLE OF MANSIONS WITH 50 ROOMS AND 40 BATHROOMS, A COUPLE MILLION OR EVEN BILLIONS TO SPEND EVERYDAY AND FOREVER, BUT NOT ONCE HAVE THEY THOUGHT THAT ALL THEY HAVE IS TOO MUCH WHEN SOMEONE WHO DOESN'T HAVE A ROOM NEEDS A ROOM SOMEONE WHO DOESN'T HAVE A $1.00 CAN HAVE $1000 AND WHEN IT ALL COMES DOWN TO THE POINT THESE POLITICIANS ARE BEING PAID WITH BIG TIME SALARIES TO HELP OUR PEOPLE BUT ALL THEY DO IS DESTROY US WITH LIES SO THE ? IS HOW IN THE HELL ARE THEY LIVING BETTER THAN US AND WE PAY THEIR SALARY? AND TO DO NOTHING...

Sad that a RESOLUTION with no real authority that prescribes "Merry Christmas" as the official greeting for December 25 only is still controversial with some. Someone on this blog has pointed out that none of us would move to a foreign country and expect them to change their centuries old customs on our behalf. A modest attempt to simply recognize and further the preservation of one of America's oldest traditions is something we should welcome.

Who gives a flying flip what we say? It shouldn't be a law what comes out of our mouth. If he's a "law maker" shouldn't he understand that we have freedom of speech. It makes me not want to say Merry Christmas anymore. Happy Holidays and Season's Greetings to all!
