News Release: Greater Tallahassee Chamber of Commerce
TALLAHASSEE – Leadership Tallahassee, the region’s premier leadership organization since 1983, is accepting applications for Leadership Class 32. Prospective candidates must complete an application identifying personal and professional leadership attributes and sharing their perspectives about various community issues and challenges. The deadline for all applications is Thursday, April 10. Leadership Tallahassee is an affiliate program of the Greater Tallahassee Chamber of Commerce.
“As a number of our community, business and education leaders can attest to as previous class graduates, this program educates and encourages participants to actively seek positive and constructive changes in their community through leadership roles,” said Barbara Boone, Executive Director of Leadership Tallahassee. “After one year, not only have you developed relationships that will last a lifetime, but you are a member of an organization that continually gives back to the community.”
The year-long program consists of an orientation, an opening retreat, monthly day-long sessions where members experience a number of different topics including: community leadership, education, government, arts, economic development, health care, human services, justice law enforcement and environment, and a closing retreat. The program brings together 35-40 emerging and experienced leaders who represent a cross-section of the community, to develop an awareness of the assets and challenges in the community.
“Leadership Tallahassee works with the Chamber to cultivate a diverse network of outstanding leaders and community volunteers committed to shaping our community,” said Sue Dick, President/CEO of the Greater Tallahassee Chamber of Commerce. “The Tallahassee area has an abundance of remarkable leaders and community volunteers. This program provides the opportunities needed to broaden and enhance emerging and existing leaders in our community.”
