Leon County commissioners made a formal request today to the Community Redevelopment Agency for $518,000 to improve the county owned Historic Amtrak Complex in Tallahassee.
Plans include adding colorful signage, small roads and spots for people to hang out.
Developers say it's all to go along with the Gaines Street and FAMU Extension projects happening nearby.
"You invest a little but then you recoup a lot as far as the redevelopment in the area. So this is a fairly significant piece of public property with some important uses on it," Sherie Bryante, Tallahassee and Leon County Planning Department Manager said.
The CRA is expected to vote on the request later this month.
All offices and businesses currently in the Amtrak station will remain there.
