Tallahassee, FL - A mailing record for absentee ballots was set in Leon County today.

This morning, representatives with the supervisor of elections dropped off more than 16-thousand absentee ballots at once at the main post office.

Elections Supervisor Ion Sancho says it's a record. He says it's one indication voter turnout should be very big this year.

Ion Sancho, Leon County Elections Supervisor: "I think we're looking at an 80 percent turnout plus in Leon County and that's pretty significant. That's generally higher than most jurisdictions in the United States."

Sancho says Leon County set a record for absentee ballots in 2008 with 30-thousand.

With two thousand more ballots ready to mail tomorrow, Sancho says the county is on pace to break that record this year.
