At 3:25 p.m., TFD received a call from a neighboring resident in the 200 Block of Timberlane Drive reporting that lightning struck a nearby house and flames could be seen coming from the attic. On arrival, firefighters from Fire Station 9 reported fire showing from the attic of a single story house and began a fire attack. The fire was extinguished in ten minutes and a quick search of the home determined that no one was home. One person lives at the house and was at work at the time of the fire. Damages were heaviest in a back room and throughout the attic and were estimated at $100,000. The occupant will have to vacate the property while repairs are made. No injuries were reported at the fire and TFD was assisted on scene by the Leon County Sheriff's Office, Bradfordville Volunteer Fire Rescue and City of Tallahassee Utilities.
