Perry, Florida- September 10, 2012
The state of Florida has new laws on synthetic drugs like spice and K2, but the city of Perry has taken it a step further.
The Perry Police department says the city has suspended business licenses for two stores they caught selling these drugs.
They have also impounded a few cars containing synthetic marijuana.
A city ordinance passed in July gives police the authority to take stricter action on the drugs.
The message was to let people know how dangerous they really are.
"We feel this is a serious safety concern inside the city, we're going to do everything in our power to make sure no one sells these substances to anyone," said Capt. Jamie Cruz, Perry Police Department.
Cruz said for months they told stores and residents they were cracking down, so they have no sympathy for people caught with the synthetic drugs.
