Wakulla County, FL - A local corrections officer is behind bars and accused of molesting a minor.

The Wakulla County Sheriff's office says Roger Perry turned himself in on Feb. 1 and is charged with lewd or lascivious molestation.

It started with a WCSO investigation into a sex offense. Deputies say Perry committed the crime to a victim younger than twelve years old. They believe he was touching her inappropriately in a sexual manner.

The victim was taken to the Children's Home Society where a medical examination and another interview was held.

WCSO says Perry worked as a correctional officer in the Wakulla Correctional Institution. We are waiting on more information from the Florida Department of Corrections on Perry's role as a CO.
