Tallahassee FL- Dentists around North Florida had people smiling a little bigger this weekend.
Free dental work was offered to those visiting the Periodontist Associates of North Florida in Tallahassee. We were told 109 people received free dental work from the sixteen dentists.
From cleaning teeth to pulling them, these dentists helped those who don't have dental insurance. One local woman told us she has been in desperate need of dental work for some time now and was overwhelmed by their kindness.
Cynthia Keel from Tallahassee sat in the waiting room for hours to see a dentist and told us, "For all those who are truly needing the help-- to actually have it? It's just a great thing it's just wonderful. It's just-- Oh God. It's just unbelievable."
Periodontist Associates of North Florida's Walter Colon explained why he wanted to start this event saying, "Hopefully it triggers them to say, okay we have resources and we provided them with those today and they can go seek help and get comprehensive care and be mouth healthy and body healthy hopefully."
Doctor Colon told us he was very excited to see how successful the event was and hopes those who came left with a little more knowledge about dental care and places people in need can turn.
