Decatur County, GA- Charred furniture, pictures painted by their children, and clothing still covered in ashes. Those are just some of the belongings scattered across the Griffin family's yard.
"In shock. Still in shock. I mean we lost everything. Everything we had is gone," said homeowner, Shari Griffin.
The Griffin's home in Decatur County was completely destroyed after a fire broke out late Saturday night and burned into Sunday morning.
The Griffin's say they were over a friend's house for dinner when they got the call.
"We got a phone call that there was a fire out on Spring Creek Road, but the address we were given was not ours."
The Griffins decided to head back home anyway, but when they arrived, they say they were devastated to see that it was in fact their home and that many of their belongings were lost in the flames.
"Most importantly were pictures of my children, baby pictures," said Shari.
Fire officials with Decatur County Fire and Rescue say the fire started in one of the back bedrooms and quickly spread throughout the rest of the house. They believe the fire may have been caused by faulty electrical wiring.
Thankfully, no one was home when the fire started and no one was hurt.
The Griffin family says they have not yet received any assistance from the Red Cross or Salvation Army.
