Some local shops in our area are hosting a back-to-school bash for students.
As part of Thomasville's First Friday celebration, downtown shops have each adopted a local high school to represent and will offer special deals to those students on Aug. 3.
The Thomas County Central High school band and the Thomasville High school band will perform, along with the schools' cheerleaders.
Store owners say it's a great opportunity for both students and parents.
"We want the children to be excited to get back to school, but we also want to lend a little bit of a hand to the parents," said Tammy Wilson, owner of EarthLover. "You know, it's always a little bit of a struggle to get those kids ready and as local merchants, if we can just help the parents out a little bit with that, we're happy to do so."
The event will be held Friday, Aug. 3 on Broad Street starting at 6 p.m.
