Thomasville, GA- A group of kids in our area grabbed their hard hats Monday and hit the construction site of a new building that'll soon be making a big impact.
Students with the Thomasville Community Resource Center stopped by the Second Harvest Of South Georgia's new 65,000 square foot distribution center.
The kids checked out the huge refrigerators and freezers that will soon store thousands of pounds of food.
They also left their hand prints in cement and created a time capsule with their dreams for when they grow up.
Another stop on the tour was the 'Kid's Cafe' kitchen.
"It's going to allow millions of additional pounds to be distributed a month, to the hundreds of charities that we work with," said Frank Richards, President and CEO of Second Harvest of South Georgia. "The Kid's Cafe Operation' has the capacity to cook over 10,000 meals a day."
The new facility is set to open its doors for business mid May of 2014.
