A local apartment complex is now smoke- free. Tobacco free Florida believes it's the first in North Florida to have such strict smoking policies.
Eyewitness News spoke with a number of people at Riverside Apartments in Havana. The people we talked to say they're really excited about the change and mostly seemed concerned for the health of the kids living at the complex.
There are plenty of places where people can't smoke in the units but at Riverside, people won't be able to smoke within 25 feet of any buildings which if you look at the complex setup would put smokers basically in the road or they'd have to leave the property all together. The property manager said she had the idea because she inspected a unit that was filled with smoke and she just didn't feel like the secondhand smoke that was seeping through the walls to other units could've been healthy.
