Local Shred-It Event Helps Prevent Identity Theft

Updated: Sat 7:12 PM, Jun 23, 2012

Tallahassee residents had the opportunity to get rid of personal documents and records, all while helping the environment.

Tallahassee Memorial Health Care hosted it's annual Shred-It Event. TMH employees and members of the community came out to shred their important documents, giving dozens of people the opportunity to reduce their risk of identity theft in just seconds.

Greg Nichols, the District Sales Manager for Shred-It said, "Today, identity theft is so rampant. This is a good way for people to protect their identity, to shred it. We do recycle. We're one of the largest recyclers in this region."

Shred-It sends all of its shredded documents to an organization in Georgia where it is turned into toilet paper.

The event comes to Tallahassee three times a year.
