Valdosta, GA - A pot bust in South Georgia lands a 48-year-old man behind bars. Lorne Carter is accused of growing marijuana in his home on Larue Street in Valdosta. Authorities say they seized 12 marijuana plants and around 230 grams of pot that was ready to be packaged.

"Well, when you first look at this case and you hear twelve plants, you think that's not a whole lot, but when you look at the potential lifetime growth of those plants and the amount of marijuana that they could produce, then obviously it does become significant at that point", says Lt. Stryde Jones, with the Lowndes County Sheriff's Office.

Jones says the loose pot has an estimated street value of $2,300, adding the plants were valued at $54,000 dollars. Carter is currently being held in the Lowndes County Jail.
