-- Lowndes County, Ga. -- February 26, 2013 --
Lowndes County was hit by as much as seven inches of rain over the last four days.
It's led to two road closures in the county. Shiloh Road near the bridge over Franks Creek has been closed as well as the west end of Porter Road. All Lowndes County schools were closed today as a result of the rain. County officials are telling drivers to be careful.
Lowndes County Clerk Paige Dukes said "we certainly don't want anyone to cross a flooded road, street or bridge under any circumstances. Many times that water can be hiding damaged infrastructure underneath that could result in your vehicle plunging down many feet."
Schools in Berrien, Brooks, Clinch, Cook and Lanier counties also canceled classes today.
