Lowndes County Sheriff’s Office Release

Each year at Halloween, the Lowndes County Sheriff’s Office sponsors a Safe Trick or Treating event and in the process raises money that is in turn donated to a local charity.

In past years donations have been made the Children’s Advocacy Center of Lowndes County, The Haven and the Georgia Sheriff’s Boy’s Ranch.

On Tuesday evening Sheriff Chris Prine presented a donation in the amount of $2,800.00 to American Legion, Post 13 in Valdosta.

During the selection of the American Legion it was noted that the group is a patriotic veteran’s organization devoted to the assistance of not only veterans but the communities which they exist.

The American Legion is the nation’s largest veteran’s service organization, committed to mentoring youth and sponsorship of wholesome programs in our communities, advocating patriotism and honor, promoting strong national security, and devotion to fellow service members and veterans.

At the presentation, Sheriff Prine expressed his sincere gratitude to the members of American Legion not only for their military service but also their continued commitment to help others.
