News Update: Madison County Sheriff's Office

Madison County Sheriff Ben Stewart reports that on Saturday morning December 7, 2013 at approximately 6:30 AM deputies were dispatched to a residence located at 3848 SW State Road 14 in Madison County in reference to a residential alarm activation. Upon arrival deputies observed a male later identified as Javon Cartavious Edwards of Madison run out the back door of the residence, jump a fence and flee into a wooded area. Deputies immediately requested assistance form officers of the Madison Police Department and established a tight perimeter.

Deputies entered the residence to search for other possible suspects that may have still been inside however none were found. Deputies discovered that Edwards had gained entry into the residence by busting a glass window pane out of the rear door and unlocking the door.

A short time later, deputies maintaining the perimeter could hear Edwards running in the woods and gave pursuit. Deputies caught up to Edwards and ordered him to get on the ground. Edwards complied and was arrested without further incident. Edwards spontaneously and voluntarily admitted to deputies that he did in-fact “burglarize” the residence and that he was currently “out on Parole from prison”. Edwards was transported to the Madison County Jail. It was further confirmed that Edwards had conducted his required criminal registration at the Madison County jail when released from prison back on the 8th day of August 2013.
