Madison County, FL - September 25, 2012
Just prior to 6:30 PM on Saturday, September 22, 2012 Madison 911 Center received a report of a car on fire. The location given was the 1100 block of Old County Camp Road about a mile east of the Madison city limits. First Responders found a large 4-door sedan fully engulfed in flames. A deputy sheriff tried to limit the fire from spreading to a wooden structure about ten feet from the vehicle while waiting on the fire department.
Madison Fire/Rescue personnel quickly brought the fire under control but while doing so they had to drop their fire hose and run when an overhead power line shorted and fell to the ground and laid across their hose. The car was a total loss and there were no injuries.
Madison County Sheriff's deputies and Madison Fire/Rescue firefighters were the only first responders on scene.
