Madison, Fla. -- The Madison County Sheriff's Office says a convicted felon led officers on a 19 hour pursuit before being tracked down in a swamp.
The chase began late Saturday when officers found 37-year-old Lonnie Hagan nearly naked and trespassing on private property. The man fled the scene in his SUV and drove toward a nearby home on US 221. He then escaped on foot into a nearby swamp, where he eluded officers through the night.
The pursuit continued Sunday after Hagan committed multiple armed robberies in the area. Officers finally found Hagan submerged in the swamp Sunday afternoon. Hagan was taken to Madison County Memorial Hospital and treated for hypothermia before being placed in jail. He was charged with armed trespassing, grand theft, and two counts of armed burglary.
