Madison County Elects New Superintendent of Schools

The race was wide open, since incumbent Lou Miller is retiring.

With 100 percent of the precincts reporting, democrat Doug Brown has been declared the winner.

He won out over republican, Cleveland Barclay and James Ray who ran with no party affiliation.

"I think that we just need to believe in ourselves, we need to have higher expectations, we need to build upon the successes that we have and we'll be in good shape," said Brown.

Brown will now decide the fate of Madison schools as they have performed on the lower end of Florida counties in FCAT scores for the past couple of years.
