On Friday, May 16, 2014 at 5:00 PM family and friends of Jesse Solomon gathered with local officials to officially open the Jesse Solomon Park in Madison, Florida.

City Manager Tim Bennett welcomed the crowd and turned the ceremony over to Madison Mayor Judy Townsend who conducted the festivities.

Jesse Solomon is a graduate of Madison County High School where he played football and went on to play at FSU in Tallahassee. From there Jesse played in the National Football League with such teams as the Minnesota Vikings, Dallas Cowboys, Tampa Bay Buccaneers, Atlanta Falcons, and the Miami Dolphins.

Jesse lives in Madison County now and in his remarks spoke of the hard work of his mother in teaching him correct principles of living. He is also excited that this park is close to where he grew up and that it will provide a place for children and families to gather.

City Manager Bennett said the park is a work in progress and it's growth in the future is guided by a local committee to assure proper land utilization to benefit the citizens of the community.
