News Release: Madison County Sheriff
June 30, 2014
Saturday June 28, 2014 a deputy of the Madison County Sheriff's Office was on a routine patrol when he saw a white Ford SUV driving dangerously on Parramore Street. The car turned onto Sinclair Street without stopping at the stop sign. The deputy performed a traffic stop on the SUV south of Mickel Street.
The deputy identified Anthony Tumbling as the driver and noticed a can of beer in the cup holder. The deputy asked Tumbling to get out of the SUV and stand in front of the patrol car. When questioned about the beer, Tumbling denied drinking any beer but then admitted to consuming "two."
The deputy told Tumbling to put his hands on the patrol car to be patted down for weapons but Tumbling refused and sprinted off. The Deputy ran after Tumbling and used his taser on him. Tumbling was taken into custody without further incident. Two Madison Police Officers assisted the deputy.
Tumbling was charged with resist/obstruct/law enforcement officer, failure to stop at a stop sign-citation, and open container of alcohol-citation.
