Suspected Mailbox Thief Arrested In Lowndes County

On Sunday, January 12, around 11:30 p.m., a resident on Pine Needle Drive noticed a person looking through their mailbox and quickly contacted 9-1-1 and provided a vehicle description. The responding deputies located and stopped the vehicle. The driver of the vehicle, Tracey Mobley was interviewed by deputies and stated that she was lost and was checking the mail boxes to determine where she was at. A search of the vehicle resulted in the recovery of approximately sixty {60} pieces of mail intended for various recipients none of which were Tracey Mobley.

Tracey Mobley was arrested and taken to the Lowndes County Jail.

According to Sheriff Prine, this investigation is continuing as investigators work to contact the additional victims who are missing mail and determine what Mobley intended to do with the information gained from the mail. Investigators from the Sheriff’s Office have also contacted the Postal Inspectors and are working closely together.
