Lowndes County, GA - "We are extremely happy that our patrol officers were able to make this stop and get this dope off the streets."

Lieutenant Stryde Jones says The Lowndes County Sheriff's Office confiscated about $33,000 worth of marijuana during a routine traffic stop on Tuesday night.

They say a deputy noticed a dark window tint on an S.U.V traveling southbound on I-75. A deputy, apparently pulled a man over and he started acting really nervous. That's when they called in the K-9 unit.

After the dog sniffed the vehicle, deputies searched inside the Lexus and found nearly 11 pounds of pot. The car's driver, Vu Cao, is currently in the Lowndes County Jail. Lt. Jones says they believe Cao was driving the drugs from Atlanta to Jacksonville.

"Well this is a fantastic job for any deputy to take a traffic stop that started out with something as simple as window tints and to look beyond that traffic ticket to find the true crime that's underlying there and being committed; fantastic job."

Cao is charged with trafficking and possession of marijuana and is currently being considered for bond. In the meantime, the pot will be stored as evidence pending a court date.
