Man Arrested for Trailer Thefts After Pleading Guilty to Stealing Guns, Boat and Car

-- Valdosta, Ga. -- March 13, 2013 --

Robert Kier was arrested on Tuesday in Quitman and charged with receiving criminal property. Lieutenant Styrde Jones of the Lowndes County Sheriff's Office said "he would travel to other states as well as the state of Georgia, steal property and then bring it back to Lowndes County kind of as a staging point and then he would fence the property out to various buyers."

The arrest came after Lowndes County Sheriff's Deputies recovered two stolen trailers on his family property.

Kier's neighbor, Natasha Gill, said "it just goes to show you really don't know all of your neighbors too well and what's going on in their family and what's going on behind closed doors."

Prior to his arrest Kier was already a wanted man. he had failed to appear for sentencing in February after he pleaded guilty to stealing a boat, a car and guns back in 2010.

Lieutenant Jones went on to say "anything that he could get he would get and resell. Like I said we recovered a lot of property that was recovered in burglaries. Most namely of course and most interesting to us was the firearms."

Kier had admitted to stealing 23 guns in a burglary in Echols County in 2010. Pleading guilty to those crimes didn't seem to phase him.

Lieutenant Jones went on to say "it just shows his continuation of his criminal activity and his failure to realize that he can't do this."

Kier is currently being held at the Lowndes County Jail.
