Man Creates Conflict in Neighborhood Shooting Squirrels with Shotgun

Tallahassee, FL - September 28, 2012

Many neighbors will complain over loud noise, or a messy yard, but one neighborhood has a different issue.

Several residents in the Meadow Hills Tallahassee neighborhood say their neighbor is shooting squirrels with a shotgun.

They believe it's dangerous and a threat to people and animals nearby.

Bill Cowart is the man accused of killing the small rodents. He spoke with us today and says what he is doing is completely legal.

The Florida legislature passed a bill last year allowing people to fire a weapon in residential areas as long as it doesn't pose a threat to anyone.

Cowart says the squirrels have caused problems for many in the neighborhood and he only shoots at them towards the ground.
