PANAMA CITY BEACH, Fla. (AP) -- A 25-year-old Arkansas man is dead after a personal watercraft he was riding on collided with a commercial boat off Panama City Beach.

The crash occurred Thursday afternoon near Grand Lagoon.

The News Herald of Panama City reports Bryan Hayes McManus of Little Rock, Arkansas, died of severe head injuries after being taken to a hospital.

Florida Fish and Wildlife spokesman Stan Kirkland says the boat was heading east and a string of personal watercraft was heading west when the nearly-head-on crash occurred.

A passenger on the commercial boat was tossed into the water but wasn't injured.

No further details were immediately available.

An investigation continues.
