HAMPTON, Va. (AP) -- The U.S. Marshals Service says it has apprehended a man in Virginia wanted on a first-degree murder warrant in Florida.
U.S. Marshal Robert Mathieson says Larry Whitehead Jr. was apprehended over the weekend in Hampton after a three-month investigation involving several states.
Whitehead is sought by authorities in Florida for a shooting death in Gainesville in June. The search extended as far north as Long Island, N.Y., until Gainesville police were tipped that Whitehead was hiding at a house in Hampton.
Whitehead was held Monday at the Hampton City Jail on no bail.
