LARGO, Fla. (AP) -- A Tampa Bay area man has been sentenced to life in prison for killing a taxi driver.
A Pinellas County judge sentenced 25-year-old Tisen KaShawn Washington on Thursday after a jury convicted him of first-degree murder. Washington was arrested last year -- five years after 50-year-old Jack LaGrand was killed.
Security footage from 2008 shows LaGrand picking up a man prosecutors claim was Washington at Fat Daddy's Watering Hole in Dunedin. Additional footage showed that man getting out of the cab at a Clearwater shopping center, where LaGrand's body was later found.
A witness later identified Washington as the killer. Washington acknowledged taking a cab from Fat Daddy's but denied killing the driver.
The Tampa Bay Times reports that prosecutors presented no physical evidence linking Washington to the murder.
