BRADENTON, Fla. (AP) -- Authorities have named the Tampa Bay area deputy that fatally shot a man who was wielding a samurai sword during a domestic battery call.
The Bradenton Herald reports that 32-year-old Sgt. Brady McGabe, a 12-year veteran of the Manatee County Sheriff's Office, has been identified by the sheriff's office.
McCabe works in the patrol division. .He remains on paid administrative leave during the investigation.
Authorities said that deputies responded to a Bradenton home Thursday after a woman called authorities claiming that her son had attacked her.
