Tallahassee, FL - A Tallahassee politician takes time to read to local elementary students on Friday.
Mayor John Marks read the book "Katie Loves The Kittens" to first and second graders at Bond elementary school. The event was held in the new reading center at the library.
It's all a part of the raising readers national literacy initiative. The partnership between Mayor Marks, WFSU and PBS Kids made it all possible.
The mayor says getting children excited about reading and education is key to a bright future.
"I want to emphasize to them that reading is a significant part of their education," said Marks. "And the good news is, these kids like to read."
The PBS character 'Super Why' also made a visit with the children.
