Two local governments came together earlier today to discuss issues affecting Leon County and the City of Tallahassee.

Tallahassee Mayor John Marks and Chairman of the Leon County Board of Commissioners, Akin Akinyemi, met for their monthly meeting. This is the second to last meeting that Akinyemi will represent the Commissioners. The main focus on his agenda was veteran's affairs and helping veteran's obtain identification.

Akin Akinyemi, Board of County Commissioners: "for me, most importantly, what issues we have not been able to resolve, so that the next chair can be aware of it and can help to carry forward and see those to fruition."

Mayor John Marks, City of Tallahassee: "here in Leon County we're fortunate to have two very well working governments and to work together and get things done on behalf of the citizens of Tallahassee Leon County is very important."

Marks and Akinyemi also discussed helping veterans afford utility payments. Marks said the city will consider waiving utility deposits for veterans and their families.
