A new McDonalds was handing out more than biscuits and coffee for their grand opening this morning.
A ribbon-cutting ceremony was held at the new the location, on Magnolia Drive. It unveiled a brand-new location featuring a more contemporary look.
But this grand opening was about more than just a new restaurant. The Ronald McDonald House gave out $40,000 in scholarships to students in the area.
"The Ronald House was actually able to come, and we presented them five-thousand dollars, that came from our proceeds. Back in March we had all the proceeds from our coffee sales for that particular day we actually donated to them it was called spread the warmth which is exactly what the Ronald house does," said Jill Ferrier, the operation manager for McDonalds in Tallahassee.
Each recipient was awarded five-thousand dollars.
