Former Valdosta Teaching Assistant Pleads Guilty To Meth Charges

Valdosta, GA - Last May we told you about a Valdosta Teaching Assistant who was arrested on meth charges.

This week, 49 year-old Beverly Strong, plead guilty to possession of methamphetamine. Strong was arrested after neighbors reported suspicious activity at her Georgia Avenue home.

Valdosta City Schools immediately put the Valdosta Middle School Para-Pro on leave. She was terminated at the next school board meeting.

The Lowndes County Court sentenced Strong to three years of 'first offender probation'. She worked at Valdosta City Schools for thirteen years.

A teaching assistant with Valdosta City Schools is behind bars after investigators discovered a meth lab at her house.

The Lowndes County Sheriff's Office arrested 49-year-old Beverly Strong Wednesday evening after receiving several complaints from neighbors.

Inside the home, investigators found methamphetamine and components used to make the drug.

Strong has been placed on administrative leave without pay from Valdosta City Schools.

A decision regarding her employment status will be made during the next school board meeting on June 9, 2014.

On Wednesday evening, investigators from the Sheriff’s Office went to 601 Georgia Avenue after receiving citizen complaints and met with the resident, Beverly Strong. Investigators conducted a search of the residence and located a quantity of Methamphetamine and the ingredients and components used for manufacturing Methamphetamine. The lab components were dismantled and removed from the residence by investigators.

Beverly Strong was taken to the Lowndes County Jail and booked on the listed charges. She will appear in the Lowndes County Magistrate Court this afternoon for an arraignment hearing where a bond will be considered.
