Press Release: Leon County Sheriff's Office

On March 27, 2013 the Leon County Sheriff’s Office assisted the Department of Children and Families with a welfare check at a house believed to contain a clandestine methamphetamine lab. When Deputies and DCF Child Protection Investigators entered the residence, they smelled the strong chemical odor associated with chemicals used to produce methamphetamine. A search of the residence revealed that John L. Bodiford, 38, and Ashley K. Cardin, 20, were inside the residence along with two small children (7 months old and 5 years old).

Deputies and Detectives located precursor chemicals, drug paraphernalia and other evidence of a methamphetamine lab inside the residence. Detectives were able to confirm that most of the clandestine laboratory had been destroyed prior to their entry. The children were taken from the residence by the Department of Children and Families.

Bodiford and Cardin were arrested and taken to the Leon County Jail.
