Midway Police Department Press Release
The Midway Police Department will be launching 24 hour law enforcement coverage for the City of Midway starting on Saturday, June 29, 2013.
Chief of Police, Jerome Turner says, "It's a move that councilmembers along with the citizens of Midway wanted from their police department." Chief Turner spoke with many residents about their issues and concerns as it relates to the police department, and 24 hour police services was essential.
Previously, the Gadsden County Sheriff's Office was responsible for law enforcement services in the City of Midway between 12:00AM and 8:00AM. Midway Police will now provide coverage for the City 24/7/365 to ensure that the citizens are afforded the most efficient and effective law enforcement services.
MPD Officers will now work 12 hour shifts which will consist of an Alpha and Bravo squad each being supervised by a Captain. Chief Turner points out that the fiscal decision to move to 24 hour law enforcement coverage wasn't easy, but with his new restructuring plan he was able to make it happen.
Administrative office hours will continue as normal from 9:00AM-5:00PM Monday-Friday; however police officers will be on duty 24/7/365. The Midway Police Department wants to remind all citizens to "Help Us, Help You".
